The AMD Server Platform Design Manager is responsible for a team the provides?PCB-based logic design centered on current and future PC architectures; specifically, hardware for debug, validation and testing of AMD microprocessors and chipsets. This team will be responsible to work across various diverse set of domain experts to drive the Server Platform targeting to ensure we are in a competitive position from development, design, debug, productization, and support of our designs. The Server Design Team fosters and encourages?technical innovation?as well as facilitates continuous career development.
The candidate should have experience both as a technical lead and/or a people manager. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience with driving multi-site and multi-disciplined engineering teams. A successful candidate must have outstanding ability to translate operational and business requirements into actionable strategies and tactics. Ability to structure and execute sophisticated analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior management as well as AMD customers Ability to network, build relationships and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization Highly organized, able to prioritize and balance multiple work streams to tight deadlines Strong analytical skills Establish a framework and process to prioritize engineering work Manage dependencies, risks, milestones, launch approvals, and more Communicate important updates and risks to milestones across product managers, engineering, and cross-functional partners to identify problems early and resolve issues quickly To drive for continuous business process improvements Implement and automate processes to streamline workflow and communication across teams Set team objectives and clarify priorities across the organization Drive and monitor external supply chain/manufacturing activities in highly dynamic business environment Define and implement key operational indicators to measure and drive continuous improvement hardware design and R&D cost to ensure max output Key collaborating partner to enable low cost ecosystem for internal and external boards Drive discussion and alignment on important planning and strategy decisions Prior experience managing people and technical teams Prior experience with x86 system design, validation, testing tools, environments, defect tracking and revision control
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in management, operations and leadership Understanding of both product design engineering and cost and supply chain management Solid understanding of financial management : budgeting, finance Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners and employees Excellent communication skills Ability to interface with multiple management levels and tailor messages accordingly while understanding impact of decisions on other organizations Must be able to work in fast paced, team environment Should assume responsibility and be proactive in taking initiatives to address issues, set direction and meet commitments
